Customized training for Volvo Penta: working together to select the right generator

2 April 2026

Recently, we at Caldic Techniek provided a customized training course for our client Volvo Penta. This training helps their employees and dealers make the right choices when selecting STAMFORD generators to pair with Volvo Penta engines.

This target group possesses a great deal of technical knowledge, particularly in the field of engines. The training focused on further deepening their knowledge of generators and, above all, on achieving the optimal match between engine and generator. It is precisely this combination that determines a reliable and efficient energy solution.

Through this training, we helped participants broaden their technical expertise and better equip them to advise their customers and business partners.

From basic knowledge to practical selection

The first day of training, which took place at our headquarters, focused on theory. We covered the operation, terminology, and technology of generators. We then discussed the key steps in the selection process

  • Load profile – Identifying all connected loads and their power requirements
  • Frequency – What are the options
  • Speed – The relationship between speed and frequency
  • Output voltage – Selecting the correct output voltage and options for your installation
  • Temperature rise class – Understanding thermal loads and insulation classes
  • Bearing(s) – The correct bearing configuration for reliability and service life
  • Options – Available options and upgrades for specific applications
  • Classification – Any classification requirements, for example within the maritime sector

By systematically following these steps, you create a solid foundation for selecting the right generator configuration.

From theory to practice

The second day focused on hands-on experience and practical demonstrations. The participants were given a tour of our generator workshop, spray booth, and warehouse. This gave them a firsthand look at our work processes, customization options, and the quality we deliver.

International focus

The training had a strong international focus. Participants came from various parts of the world, ranging from Sweden to Brazil and from Turkey to Mexico. This led to a valuable exchange of knowledge and diverse perspectives on applications and markets.

Building strong partnerships together

For us, this training session is a great example of how we collaborate with our partners: sharing knowledge, supporting one another, and working together to develop better solutions for the end customer. This aligns perfectly with what Caldic Techniek stands for—a committed and expert technical partner.

We look back on this session with great pleasure and look forward to a follow-up. Of course, we are also open to similar training requests from our partners.
