Become a specialist in smart energy and power management systems

How do you get generators, batteries, solar and wind power to work together reliably? As Application Engineer Power Management, you advise customers on exactly this, solve technical challenges, and commission systems on site.

You’ll mainly work with solutions from the Danish manufacturer DEIF. Caldic Techniek expects strong growth in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You will have the room to become our technical specialist in this area.

What will you do?

The main focus of the role is technical. You support customers before and after purchase, working together with account managers, suppliers, and engineers.

Specifically, you will:

  • advise engineers and customers on controllers, PLC systems, protection relays, and power converters;
  • help think through how generators, batteries, solar, wind and energy management systems are linked together;
  • answer technical questions about configurations, software, firmware, error messages, and system integrations;
  • analyse more complex problems and, where necessary, coordinate with DEIF’s engineers;
  • prepare, configure and test systems and commission them at customer sites or on board vessels;
  • draw up technical quotations and support the account manager in customer meetings;
  • recognise commercial opportunities and help convert technical advice into an order;
  • international travel is occassionally required.

Why this role is interesting

The energy transition is making electrical installations ever more complex. Customers are combining generators with battery systems and renewable energy sources and they need technical partners who understand this.

At Caldic Techniek you get the chance to build this expertise further. You work directly with DEIF, follow product training and grow into the technical point of contact for customers and colleagues.

At times you are on the road for pre-sales advice or to commission installations. It is precisely this combination of advising, analysing, commissioning and customer contact that makes this role special.

What do you bring?

You do not have to be a DEIF specialist yet. What you do have is a background in electrical engineering that allows you to get to grips with complex electrical systems.

We think it is important that you:

  • have a bachelor’s-level (hbo) background in electrical engineering, industrial automation, energy technology, or a comparable field;
  • have experience with electrical installations, control systems, automation or power management;
  • can analyse technical problems in a structured way;
  • enjoy working with customers and can explain technical information clearly;
  • enjoy picking up quotations and commercial opportunities alongside the technical work;
  • speak English fluently and Dutch on at least a conversational level.

Experience with power generation, backup power installations, generator control, BESS, PLCs, commissioning or marine installations is welcome, but not a hard requirement.

Working from the Netherlands or Belgium

You work from our site in Rotterdam or from Belgium. If you opt for Belgium, we expect you to be present in Rotterdam one to two days a week on average. That way you stay well connected to the team and our Dutch customers.

You will be employed by the Caldic organisation in the country where you work. Employment conditions may therefore differ slightly from one country to another.
